Welcome to Emerald class. My name is Mrs Fulker and I teach one of the Year 1 classes along with Mrs Huntington, Mrs Maske and Mrs Smith. We have lots of exciting topics and activities planned for the year ahead and we hope your children get the most out of these topics as they can. In our classroom we have a role play area which is linked to our topic and a very cosy reading and listening area for the children to enjoy stories. Emerald class is also very lucky to have a fantastic outside classroom which we will share with Opal class. We are very excited about the year ahead in Emerald class as the children continue along their learning journey through Cromwell Park Primary School.

Year 1 and 2 topic this half-term is Here come the Aliens!  We will:

·         Learn about the solar system and write non chronological reports
·         Investigate gravity
·         Learn about the first moon landing and how astronauts get to space
·         Create our own space pictures using different media
·         Read and write fantasy stories in an alien setting
·         Have a debate in Year 2 about whether Pluto should be classified as a planet or not
·         Hot seat an astronaut in Year 1 to find out what the moon is like
·         Compare the size of planets and solving alien problems
·         Compose music for aliens
